    I've had the light on since late September, don't remember the exact date. It takes a while for the birds to 'reset', so I think earlier is better. Right now some of the hens are laying eggs, and all the pullets are producing. Their smaller eggs are getting bigger too. Mary

    Here in the balmy Lansing area, more snow hasn't happened at once in my lifetime. Near lake Michigan, you all get more, more often! Growing up in Milwaukee, much more interesting winters! Mary

    My small run is integrated into the coop, so it's really a large roofed coop. No shoveling necessary there! Walking out to the coop? I make a path, slogging through the snow until it IS a path. Hate shoveling! This works in up to about two feet of snow... Mary
