I don't know. Maybe it's different according to where you show or maybe the rules just aren't enforced here. I also show call ducks and one of my hens has won BV at an ABA show with no legband. I have seen some birds showing with the metal close end bands, but very few. 99% of them have the...
I've been showing oegb for a couple of years and have earned points. You don't have to have bands. Some people who have a lot of birds do band in order to tell them apart. I've mostly seen the colored spiral bands used. I've accumulated enough birds now that I'm going to have to start banding...
I love the lemon blues too. My cockerel was bred by Noah Webster who was inducted into the Old English Game Breeders Hall of Fame last year. I bought him from Neat Bantams in north GA. He's not finished growing yet and should really look his best this fall. I'm really interested in what his...
Happy to say I had a good weekend at the show. My lemon blue cockerel won Best of Variety (his first show !), brown red pullet placed 3rd, ginger red cock placed 2nd, quail pullet and hen both placed 4th. I bought 2 lemon blue pullets, a ginger red pullet and 3 pairs of brassybacks.
You can go to bantamclub.com then go to photos and then click on American and old english game bantams. I think most varieties are pictured.. Also on the Ideal Hatchery site you can see pictures of a huge list of varieties although they are drawings rather than photos.
Awww thanks ! I hope he'll do well. I'd like him to have a little more weight and muscle, but that will come in time. He should be right where I want him by the fall shows. This will be a good experience though, and I'm sure it will be a fun weekend as usual.

I'll have some lemon lemon blues for sale later on in the year. I've been hatching them and need to grow them out a little to decide which to keep. I'm in Perry. Also I could get you the number of the people I got these from (they live in NE GA. I don't know if they have anymore pairs for sale...
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the silver blue is the blue version of a birchen. The black in a birchen is replaced by blue. Breeding a silver blue to a birchen should give you both colors in the chicks.
That's probably proper because that's where the breed originated, but they sure grow them different here. The thing that sticks out at me is the tail. The tails on the OE's in the US (at least the show quality ones) are way fuller. Even the hens and pullets really need a spread tail to even...
