    Finally, a good photo of Lucy up close at about 5 weeks. I compared her photo to a rooster and another hen at that age and I'm pretty sure Lucy will stay a Lucy and not a Louie!

    Thanks, will do. I actually think roosters are more interesting than hens, but hens are easier to fit into the scheme of things. So I guess I'm hoping for a hen, course I already named the chick Lucy.

    Sorry, I don't know that term. The Daddy, Lucky is a Rhode Island Red mix and the Mother is an Orpington mix.

    Lucky my rooster, finally became a Daddy after 4 years. Chick is about 2 weeks old now. I've heard there is a way to tell by the feathers if it will be a hen or a rooster. I've compared photos of chickens I have raised in the past. And I can't make any kind of connection. Photo enclosed...
