    I use sand in the coop and rice hulls in the run. It rained so much where I live this year. The rice hulls don’t mold and dry quickly. When kicked around the rice hulls stay on top, so poop, etc goes to bottom. I use pavers on top of hardware cloth, as my foundation. Keeps them pretty dry...

    I live the rice hulls. They dry quickly, if they get wet. They also stay on top, while poo and other stuff goes to bottom. The chickens LOVE going through fresh rice hulls, looking for any rice left behind. It is also compostable. Pretty easy to clean.

    I read that someone mixed rice hulls with dirt and sand. Rice hulls are supposed to be a Barrier between any moisture and poop. I will be trying this out in a couple days.
