All it takes is a quick pick up and inspection, probably weekly. This is absolutely necessary though. Mistaking the waddling for limping is exactly what happened with my girl.

As far as I know, the ducks (male ducks are called drakes) will definitely be fine with chickens. The folks I tagged will be far more knowledgeable

You could take the ducks but the drakes could cause problems for the ducks and your chickens. I love drakes so much and they're just being drakes, but keeping everyone safe is important.

You do not want the drakes attempting to mate your chickens. Chickens have died from this.
