I guess i can see that becoming an issue. I don't have the heart to cull the roosters. If someone else wants to raise them as meat birds, that's fine, but it's not for me.

Would it be ok to keep one rooster and the hen so they can breed? Will it be significantly more work by doing so? Will they be content being the only two?

I suppose you are right. I just looked on Craigslist and saw that there are plenty of grown hens for sale very inexpensively. It takes the fun out of raising them up but I guess it also doesn't come with the gamble of receiving roosters again. Sorry to be such a downer, I am just so...

That would be very fun. It is. Have to say I'm a little upset but I'd rather find out now. These were supposed to be "unsexed straight runs". 4:1 roosters to hens makes me think I've either got terrible luck or someone was a little dishonest about them being unsexed.

Hi all, I'm new here and I have 5 Welsummer chicks that are about 5 weeks old. I'm trying to sex them and I am not quite sure if they are hens or roosters. I'm afraid I've got all roosters. That would be some letdown. I've attached as many pictures as I could. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
