Thanks so much for your advice. I am so glad that I found this site - there is a wealth of information here. I am new to raising chickens and it's been a fun learning adventure so far. I never knew chickens could be so fascinating and funny.
My hens first lost their back feathers from the roosters mating. After I separated the hens from the roosters, the hens started feather picking. I have several with bare backs. Now that winter is over I've let them out in their run but they do get exposure to sun and their backs are pink/red...
