Safeguard and Feather Damage While Molting

The problem with mixing fenbendazole in water is two-fold. One it does not mix well and can adhere to the minerals in the water making it sink to the bottom of the water bowl. And two; when the suggested dose of three mills per bird is put in water the only way for the bird to get the needed...

We still have not seen any signs of feather damage due to Safeguard or Valbazen.

Free ranging peas are generally not as susceptible to worms as a bird that is caged. If you want to deworm him, and it is not a bad idea if you want him to stay around, get some Safeguard for goats at the farm store and soak about three ml in small pieces of bread or soak it in some cat food...

NO! It is absolutely imperative that you do the follow up dosing at ten days or you did the first one for nothing.

I think both of those can be called BUNK. We know it doesn't cause feather damage, and as luck would have it, Zaz posted, and I do remember she said it before, that she treats with SG every couple of months all year with no infertility problems. So I'm good, CRS attack averted.

Just to save me from having to re-read all this info, and because of my CRS, could someone tell me if there is any proof of Safeguard causing infertility for any amount of time after dosing? @casportpony or @Garden Peas ?

It boiled down to the Post Office not insuring for live delivery. After explaining that point for the fifth time she said if the PO wasn't going to insure the birds themselves she wasn't going to ship. Then my outside voice said maybe you shouldn't...

White Algea Eye. Zaz and I got tossed the first time when she said some of hers get that too when the humidity is up. I snuck back in and then got tossed out again when I got frustrated trying to answer a dingbats long list of shipping questions. Sorry lady, I can't make the PO do anything.

That Doug Buffington, know here as Peacockman here on BYC tossed me out for doing just what you are trying to do. There are a load of people on that page and they keep getting misinformation from the god himself. Claude and a few others are trying to set things right but everyone has to walk...

Five days in a row will get all types of worms. Some worms like roundworm and cecal only take one day. At 0.23 ml per pound, that equates to two ml per average mature peahen and three ml per adult peacock. ORALLY. If you do a Fecal Float first and can identify the worm load yu will know...

Safeguard and Feather Damage While Molting

I asked my vet about changing up dewormers and she said that using a different wormer every year and a half is probably a good idea just in case of resistance building up. As long as you give the proper amount orally and not diluted in water, all worms should be killed and resistance is not...

Also be aware that a one time dose of Safeguard at one ml per four pounds of bird weight will only kill round worms. To get all types of worms requires five day dosage and followed up again in ten days. Giving 1/2 ml would be adequate for a young chick, but not enough for a full sized hen.

Safeguard and Feather Damage While Molting

I remember that one of the larger breeders on this list reported no ill effects deworming with Safeguard while hens are laying. It may have been AugeredIn, not sure. Just like Eggcessive thinks that feathers will be damaged, most people report that is not the case for them.

Safeguard and Feather Damage While Molting

This is the time of year that the peacocks need lots of protein while they replace their feathers, this is the molting season for both male and female peafowl. The way they are fed now will make a great difference in their feather structure and brilliance as well as getting the hens ready for...

Another thing I like about meds in the feed is that heavier birds eat more so they get the right amount of meds according to their weight. I figure the weight of the birds in that pen and then measure the correct amount of med for that weight.
