I really think it was poison of some sort, likely the rat. That will clear over a few days with severe convulsions. If it doesn't kill them, they will recover. Likely she'll lay just fine.

It really, really sounds like she got into some rat poison or some other poison. You'd expect that kind of reaction that eventually clears once the toxins are out of the system.
Hopefully she'll have 100% recovery. And of course a good canvassing around...
I've seen the rats carry the poison bats around, which is how it can get spread beyond where it should be. Squirrels too. Especially if it is the longer term blood thinner (Type 1) poison that takes several feedings. However they Type 2 is supposed to be one bite, and that's the neural toxin...
