    I'm always worried about the hawks! Didn't think they would come around if someone was in the yard with them. Thanks for sharing. I have probably let my guard down too much lately.

    I didn't let them out at all the next day and only for a little bit when I am in the yard since then. We saw him flying around the next day as well;O(( I have had less eggs this week too and I can tell they are stressed. I had 13 chickens when this happened. I guess that really was an unlucky...

    Our attack was Tues. evening and all day Wed. the hawk was seen off and on in the tree line that runs between our land and the neighbors. Haven't seen him as much the last 2 days but I am not taking any more chances;O((

    How long do you leave them out in this? They can stay safe even if you aren't out in the yard? Do you have tie downs or does it just sit on the ground? Your chickens are beautiful!

    If we can act quickly enough, we will surely try this. Actually saw the hawk lurking around our property off and on all day today.

    Thanks so much for your response. Yes - lesson learned. I had no idea the free ranging could be so dangerous. Looking forward to seeing your pic. It's great to have a site like this to share our misfortunes and get some good ideas.

    Does anyone have a picture of one of these set ups? I am having trouble visualizing. I had 13 Bantams. Have a coop with a covered run, but have always let them out for 1-2 hours morning and evening. Last night a hawk swooped in around 7 p.m. I heard the commotion but didn't get there soon...
