Howdy neighbor! I grew up here, but left in '85 to go in the USAF. Wound up in Arizona after I got out, and spent 20 years living in Phoenix/Glendale. Always missed Idaho, finally made the decision to move back in '09. I'm working on getting my small town country girl persona back!

THE CHICKEN HAS LANDED! I REPEAT, THE CHICKEN HAS LANDED! Momma Chickie has been sitting on the nest since last night, so I think the 21 day countdown has begun. I'm so excited to see how many eggs actually hatch! Doing as much reading as I can in the meantime. Wish me luck

My contingency plan is to bring the chicks inside. I have some fairly large dog kennels that I think would do the trick as far as housing...

@folgerrd - I'm planning on letting the hen hatch the eggs. I'm hoping I can move her into the coop before or as soon as that happens, as I want the chicks to consider the coop home. I have a feeling momma hen will run back to her own flock as soon as she is given the opportunity. So I'll keep...

Hi everyone. My name is Lori, and I've just joined the forum. I'm (hopefully) a soon-to-be chicken momma. My husband and I recently moved to a 1.75 acre property. The neighbors have free range chickens that they acquired when the other neighbor moved and didn't take the chickens. I discovered...
