This is an older picture but it will help explain the story. I think I figured something out tonight. I went down there at bed time and they all came in and tried to huddle up,peacefully at the end of the table.( there was some pushing and shoving) Some of them tried to fly up to the other...

I think I will keep the wood chips, they are free... I went down to check on them last night and they were all huddled up together not even on the roosting bar. I don't think they are even using it. There is no poop on it hardly at all. And this morning I looked and they had a lot where I saw...

I thought about that but two things. I have a hill on one side, like I said, and the ground Is pretty flat from there on out till I get to the creek, about 75 feet away through the garden. I ain't digging that far and that deep. I have pretty sandy soil so I think it will drain OK. Sandy enough...

I had a brainstorm on my way to lowes this morning. Incorporate the 5 gallon bucket with the PVC. I want to able to feed and water from out side the coop but yet Have plenty of feed available for them. So I came up with this. A bucket with a 45 connection in it, a 16" piece of 4" PVC then...

Just did. That might work on the future, But right now the little ones, Leghorns, would just climb right in there. And maybe even the Orpingtons. I like the idea tho Latestarter... Thanks for the info. I will set up half the nipples in the coop and the other half in the run, Whenever I get...

Yeah something like that, If I can find it for a 6x12 coop, at a decent cost would be good. For the time being, I am going to put 2 1x6 deck boards( that i have) stacked on top of each other, on the walls inside, for the deep litter method. Screwed on in case something changes.

I am guessing you are not very fond of OSB..(hence bad word here). Thanks for the input. I will take all of that under advisement. I can pick up a but end of a roll of Tyvek off of a job site. A lot of times they just wind up in the dumpster. Right or wrong I think I will stick to my plan for...

I am sorry but I am going to disagree with you on this. When they build houses they don't put sealer or paint on the house before siding. they just wrap it Tyvek (One of the most popular around here) or another brand similar. It is a air/moister barrier. When I work I am around new house...

It should be fine because once the siding is over it is weather proof but I may do one better, left this part out, Covering the OSB with Tyvek (tm) paper. Interior, not yet decided. Money is a big issue. trying to keep thing as cheep as possible. ( I have most of the siding, I can pickup the...
