Easily done tbh, it is hard to tell with pigeons. 😄 Squabble acts like a male and hasn't laid any eggs, despite often going broody, so I am pretty certain the crazy sky ferret is a boy.
Unfortunately neither of the eggs made it, but the 5 chicks who hatched are growing big and strong, and are brimming with personality and a lot of sass.
Unfortunately it does happen 😟 Though you did all you could, sometimes it can't be helped.
I have two late eggs that the hens gave up on to focus on the chicks, but they still have movement, so I gave them to my pigeon. If they hatch, I am gonna have 1 or 2 confused chicks.
You can make a tiny safety hole at the top of the air sack/the base of the egg to provide more air after the chicks have internally pipped. I did it for two eggs that were internally pipped and peeping, but hadn't externally pipped and were taking longer than the rest.
