We learn the hardware from the mistakes. Just like those before us had terrible things happen we learn from it but still make our own mistakes along the way. Mine was getting complacent but now I'm on high alert again. I want cameras IN the run/coops, I want cement and fort knox.
My husband covered the run the next day. We definitely would have had issues if we didn't because we started seeing bald Eagles and Hawks in the air. I'm sure they were always around i just never paid attention until the first loss.
I can't imagine 😔 we have put off getting a dog simply because I didn't want to risk my chickens getting killed. Livestock dogs are very expensive so we are saving and researching.
