    Hen with diarrhea

Update - I passed the baton on to a friend with chickens. She is going to see what she can do to resolve the issue. The wry neck doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Hopefully my friend has more luck with her.

    Hen with diarrhea

She passed away peacefully yesterday. I’m going to miss her but am glad she didn’t suffer long. I appreciate all your help.

    Hen with diarrhea

I think I found the answer to my question (below). I'm guessing I'll never know what caused her blockage. :( *The Crop has become slow *The Crop is Sour (Candidiasis/Yeast infection) ***The bird has a bad Coccidiosis infection ***Liver Disease *There is Canker somewhere in the system ***The...

    Hen with diarrhea

@Wyorp Rock Unfortunately, I think my hen is going to pass soon. I went to open the coop this morning and she won't come out. I have her inside in a pet carrier and am trying to make her comfortable. I know that someone (maybe you) said that crop issues are a symptom of something else. Do...

Yes, I always have grit available. I will not give them corn this week and see if that helps at all. If the problem isn't resolved next weekend, I'll try a liquid diet and oil massage for a few days. It's easier for me to do this on the weekend when I don't work.

    Hen with diarrhea

I actually gave her three stool softeners by accident last weekend. Nothing happened. I put her back with the flock as I was treating for worms. This week she has had starter and corn/mealworms as occasional treats.

    Hen with diarrhea

UPDATE: I just finished the last dose of Safeguard. She still has diarrhea and her crop is still hard in the morning. Should I do another couple days of no food and oil?

    Hen with diarrhea

Are the eggs she laid in my refrigerator okay to eat if she may have worms?

What is the dosing for Safeguard? Edit: never mind I found it in your previous post. :)

    Hen with diarrhea

That’s what I was thinking too. Nothing was moving around in the stool though. I probably would’ve got a better picture if the poop wasn’t on me (I wanted to change clothes and shower. Lol)

    Hen with diarrhea

@Wyorp Rock Do you think I should switch foods? My flock consists of both hens and roosters. Right now they have nutrena starter, grit and oyster shell. Does that poop look normal to you?

    Hen with diarrhea

Will do. I just finished massaging again and she crapped on me again. Lol

    Hen with diarrhea

I do have ivermectin in my cabinet. Do you think I should try it?

    Hen with diarrhea

She is drinking because her crop is more full of liquid than it was earlier. I’ve never wormed her.
  15. Matilda Belle

    Hen with diarrhea

Will do. She pooped a tiny bit on me while massaging her this morning. Other than that, nothing.

    Hen with diarrhea

I didn't get this message until now. Last night I decided to try the stool softener before bed. I gave her 1/2 cc (3 capsules) and this morning her crop is still full and hard.

    Hen with diarrhea

@Wyorp Rock I read it’s 1 cc three times a day. Is that the right dosage for a bantam?

    Hen with diarrhea

    Is this the right stuff?

    Hen with diarrhea

She’s not egg bound. I feed my flock Nutrena starter. Grit and oyster shell are offered as well. As I said earlier, this diet was recommended by several notable members on the forum. Not interested in switching to layer.
