Sorry for the late reply. I did a blood sample from clipping the toenail into the quick. I did this as day old chicks & got enough for a sample. Now they are 12 weeks old, and the dna didn’t lie. 4 boys & 2 girls
I don’t think so because you have to pluck the feather and get the entire shaft to test dna. I don’t think I could pluck any of the fluff. Cutting toenails seems to be the easiest way. I watched a few YouTube videos and it looks pretty simple.
IQ Bird testing. Send in a blood or feather sample and they will tell the gender of your bird. Since Silkies are so hard to sex, this will be the best way to tell male/female at a very early age.
