    Can you take a picture of the yellow bottoms of the chick's feet. If they are really an obvious yellow on bottom, then it's a Black Jersey Giant and not a Black Australorp.

    My Australorp hens are all pretty quiet, but then they are in a coop/run with 25 hens. I wouldn't put the Pekin Ducks in with the chickens. Ducks have very messy habits which are not conducive to chicken's health. Also, drakes can seriously injure hens trying to mate with them.

    You'll love them.. They are my favorite standard breed chicken. I have 7 BA hens and they are all calm and friendly and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. Good luck with your new BA flock.
