    Whatever your hygrometer is reading is most likely inaccurate, so don't trust it, & remove half the water.

    Yes, candle the eggs. No need to remove the water, gap the lid, or remove the plug to release humidity, or just let it burn off. Add just little bit of water to boost back up once needed.

    Here's temperatures that are best for incubating chicken eggs: 99.5°F - 100.0°F I go about 98.5°F - 97.5°F for Silkies, they seem to do better at a lower temperature then other breeds. Humidity for the first days before lockdown I go 35% - 45% humidity. Lockdown I go around 55% - 65% humidity.

    That's one big mistake, is going by the built in thermometer, & hygrometer of an incubator. Also, you should give your eggs a candling to see how they're doing if worried?

    Are you using separate Hygrometers, & thermometers to monitor conditions in your incubator? Are you candling the eggs, & removing any dead embryos?
