Well, we're off. 96 Eggs set, only 14 older than 7 days with the oldest being 9 days.

There's a nice feature with the Ova 100, press two buttons on the front and the trays level. Otoh, there's an annoying alarm that signals just before the trays turn, presumably...
Well, setting in 3 days and right now I have 86 eggs which will be 11 days or younger on my setting date (1/6/16). Still haven't gotten a resolution from Brinsea on how to use the Ova Easy 100 without the humidity pump, but I have confirmed I can achieve pretty much whatever RH I want in it when...
From Brinsea's page on Humidity in Incubation;
"If the incubation humidity has been too high the egg will have lost too little moisture and the chick will be rather large. In this case the air space will be too small, the chick’s respiration will be affected and the young bird will have...
I've been having a running conversation with Brinsea. I've been able to verify that my ambient room RH is 53-55% @ 70F, which should result in an incubation RH of 20% (with no water in the bator). That should allow me to achieve the 40% RH I am aiming for. However, with the provided tray and...
Well, two more dead this morning, so that's at least 21 attributable to my water issue. Hopefully these are the last though.
I got a response from Frank Pearce, the founder of Brinsea. It was a little underwhelming. I told him things were fine with the humidity pump, but wanted to know how the...
I've sent an email to the founder of Brinsea after chatting with their customer service staff. We'll see if he can suggest something.
Meanwhile, I have just learned something very important about raising chickens...namely, if you don't give them water they tend to die...in droves!!
Ok, not...

That makes perfect sense, its just not what comes with the bator or what is discussed in the manual. So you're right, but then how did Brinsea get it so wrong? I would have been very easy for them to have created sections in the tray, like so many other bator trays have. Fill channel...

Lolz, well, thanks for not smacking me...;-] I did read the manual this time. I figured I'd learned that much from our past useful exchanges. To be honest, you and Ruby both made the right suggestion, just use the pump. Since I am not setting for a month, I just thought I would check...

Well, I have done that and using only the Humidity pump, a very small piece of the block for the pump to drop water on, and no problem keeping the bator at 40% (the target). This does, however, mean that the pump is working regularly. The only problem with that is each time the pump...
Hmm, I'm having trouble getting the humidity to stay down. There's this tray that covers the bottom of the bator, and then in the front of it there's an evaporation block that's kinda like woven paper...like, there's lots of open pockets in this block, exposing lots of surface that wicks up...
Yeah, its very pretty...;-] I filled the water tray and set it running yesterday and today its RH was 83%...not good, then I realized there was a cover plate for the water tray that I had forgotten to put in place...lolz. So, with that done, we'll see what the RH is tomorrow.
Glad to hear...
Well, just to lolz, "Bugtraq" is a different mailing list (might even still exist) than "NTBugtraq"......and the editor won't let me put an emoticon where I want it now...sheesh
Well, this stupid problem isn't any of my doing, the site is not offering me the rich text editor options...so its the site, I've cleared my cache and everything related to BYC...??
lolz, there is something wrong with this site and/or my browser, as I cannot get it to consistently give me the full-text editor...sucks.
Yes, I am still here...;-] I'm in the process of moving my brooders into my coop. I took them out some weeks ago, and managed to get rid of all the...
This will be my first of 13 settings in 2016, as I try to progress with my inbreeding project. My laying pullets are all 1st generation cross between a single BCM rooster, and 23 Red Sexlink hens. I've since added 2 unrelated BCM roosters to the flock. I estimate I will have 21 of these Gen1...
