Here's my coop. It's not done yet obviously but it's usable. The girls get to choose whether they want to use one of the 3 smaller nest boxes or one of the 2 bigger ones. I've noticed that in the winter, the smaller boxes are most popular but now that is getting warmer out, I'm finding more eggs...
I'm sorry of in the same boat. My husband knows about some of the turkey eggs I have in the bator buthedoesn't know about the second set I ordered and just put in it lol. I'm kinda going he doesn't look for a week or two until I weed out any that aren't developing.
they'll figure it out :) my ramp is also like that (I think a bit steeper actualy) and we've had 3 clutches raised so far. Their mama's taught them all how to do it.
I have 3 good roos in my coop and soon to be 4 when my Rhodebar boy gets just a little bigger. I have a BCM, lavender ameraucana, and OEGB. The game Bantam can be nasty but it's only on occasion. He's too little too cause any damage and we can't kill him since he's my son's bird :/ The other two...
our coop building is 120 sq ft (220 if you count the run). Hopefully, we didn't need a permit because we didn't get one lol. We did cold the whole thing on foyers so "technically" it's floating and not a permanent structure. Not to mention, one of our neighbors is the township director and...
I'll have to get a picture for you later. We took a 5 gallon bucket and mounted the nipples on the bottom (4 of them). We keep the lid on the top but I drilled a hole in the lid for easy refilling. It just hangs in the run by a chain.
is say the bay way to TRY to get a nice roo is to start with a chick, raise it with a lot of handling and treats. But, try to find one that comes from a mild mannered set of parents. That's the best you can do I think. 2 of ours that were raised that way we're wonderful but one can be nasty so I...
The only nasty rooster I have is an OEGB and he's only mean when he's in a mood lol. My other roos only come running at me if they know I have a handful of treats and it's definitely not to attack!
Isn't it amazing the different opinions and views people have of things? Where I grew up, it was in a valley in the mountains. The mountains surrounded the entire city like a ring. I now live near the top of one of the mountains and I've always thought to myself that I could never live somewhere...
I couldn't agree more with this. I know we have a massive addition planned for our coop and run with seperation pens for breeding and a larger space. Eventually. ... when we have extra money lol
I just wrote a blog about our chicken coop adventure.
