WOW Mother Nature can be quite brutal when she wants to be. Glad you have got it all sorted out. I thought outs was bad with the small amount we got, you got heaps!
I am slowly getting my run sorted, I have treadle feeders now - that stops the wild birds, have removed the mess left by the snow...
I had thought of using chicken wire over the top, but just figured it was easier now to go without a top. I know if it had a top again, I would only worry every winter that it would collapse again.
I don’t have to worry about predators coming into my run, my only problem was the wild birds...
We are lucky here not to have to worry about hawks and other predators, my reason for the netting, was to keep the wild birds from eating the chicken food.
We fixed it up yesterday, totally removed the top, or what was left it, and made the fences higher.
We brought Treadle Feeders for the...
Oh it does, it looks so pretty, but is horrible stuff at the same time.
We still have piles of it in the back yard, and there is a group of snowmen up the road :gig
With any luck it is all over and and we can get back to the lovely spring days we were having.
Thank you to everyone who took to time to respond and offer advice, ww will sit down on the weekend and redesign and redo my enclosure. Our weather here is that of extremes that is for sure. I mean 24 degrees and beautiful sunshine in the day and snow at night...Mother Nature at her best
Thanks...
Yes, that was it. Snow was forecast for our area down to 1000m, we are 627m. Then yesterday snow was forecast down to 600m and we got nothing. As per usual when they forecast that.
As for Perisher Ski Resort, it is the main ski resort of NSW and is just under 4 hours drive from here and not far...
Thank you, it has caused so much damage, not just here, but around town to. We are just not in an area that is used to snow and this much too, it is still laying about in some areas.
Oh well tomorrow is an new day and as long as we don’t get the snow tonight, that is actually forecast for this...
It was to late to bump it off by the time I noticed it, according to local FB posts, the snow started at midnight, I was up at 1 am but by then it had already started to sag badly and was to heavy to push off.
Thanks, will have to look into it, snow for us is very very rare, yes we get really cold, but not snow, then last night snow was not even forecast for us, was forecast for down to 1000m, we are 627m, so way off.
In the past garden stakes have been suitable. I guess not any longer.
When we made our chicken run, we put bird netting over the top of the run/coop to keep the wild birds from eating the chicken food.
We had garden arches to hold the netting high, so walking under it wasn’t bothersom.
We had done this many years ago when I had chickens with out a drama. So...
