What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

I agree! I'm hoping one will do it again in the spring. The only thing I don't like is the fact that at least half of them will be roosters! I've got one more than I actually need right now . I noticed my hens up on the fence the other day. They were roosting up there to avoid the "teenage"...

What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

She stubbornly sat on the nest for the full 21 days or so. She did abandon the nest with the four chicks the day after I noticed them peeking out of her feathers, and she left 4 eggs unhatched. I had another broody, a large cochin, that managed to hatch one white leghorn/polish cross egg out...

What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

I have a link in the "Chicken behaviors and egglaying" forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1121761/my-first-unintentional-hatch . This has some pictures of my SSH and her chicks if you are interested in seeing them.

What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

I have 3 SSH and they are flighty. In fact, only one of them will join the others around my feet when I am feeding treats or mealworms. But! One of my SSH hens was the successful broody that raised 2 out of four chicks that hatched. She was a very good mother. Her two remaining chicks are...

What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

Yes, my RIR's will get into the trunk of my car when I am bringing in groceries, and/or come into the house if the door is left open. They know I keep the "treats" in the house - somewhere!

I love my Brahmas! I have two and they are my most curious and friendly chickens. Talkative too.

What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

My RIR is the head hen. She is very friendly with me - even trying to remove the mealworm bag from my hand if I move too slow! She will go around others begging for treats, but will follow me everywhere. Still, my cochin Ginger is much friendlier than the RIR was at this point in her...

What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

I think I posted previously on this thread and said my RIR was my friendliest, but now that my chicks have grown up to almost adulthood, I would say my cochin (red) Ginger is my friendliest. No chasing at all! I just pick her up and she tolerates it - enjoys it even as she comes running to the...

What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

My Rhode Island Red hen Chickness is my friendliest. She lets me pick her up, pet her and she will talk to me non-stop when I am out feeding and watering all the birds.
