He should stay with her during the days for a while, but still come home each night... unless he finds a tree he feels is safe to roost in near her nest he may give up on her tho. Each bird is different, so its hard to say exactly what he will do. If she does end up disappearing he may lead you...

LOL... where do you think I learned how to enable? HERE!!! Sounds like George is ticked off that you made her lay her eggs in the coop, or confused, lol... so she just laid her eggs where ever in her anxious/frustrated/ticked off state. You can put chicken eggs in there if you want to...

I forgot to mention Leigh... if your Hen lays her egg by noon, there's no reason to keep her in all day... they can go free range the rest of their normal day (as long as they come back in easily each night!). I use this routine with my breeding flocks every day, it works great... and sometimes...

That is definitely a developing egg, and I see veins! The tilted/slanted air cell kind of concerns me tho, all my eggs' air cells are normally centered at the very top. Could have been the way the Hen laid it, could be from shipping, hard to say. Good luck with your nest hunting, hope you...

Yikes, ok... you're Hens may start disappearing soon if you don't find those nests (predators will get them while they are on their nests, and most likely the eggs too). Try calling your birds for treats a few times on and off thru the day, if they come running watch where they come from, then...

You don't have to leave the eggs a lone, lol I just really suggest it for the 2 with the loose air cells. The others are fine to candle still. Glad you got to see the veins, they get more and more prominent as the keets develop, to the point you can see the bigger ones pulse with the keet's...

    First Egg Candling

Woo hoo 6 with veins!!! That's excellent news! The loose air cell thing can sometimes happen during rough handling while being shipped, but don't give up on those eggs yet... if possible only candle those 2 eggs while they are in the egg racks, the less you move/turn them over/around the better...

Leigh, in my candling pic (I'll post it here again so you don't have to switch back and forth between threads)... Can you see the lighter space (air cell) at the top of the egg in the pic? Do you see the same thing in your eggs? Daylily, when you have time, read my last post on my hatching...

PS... I'm not faking it, LOL... I was in the same boat as you when I first started out, and luckily had lots of nice people helping me thru the process and patiently answering all my questions. So I'm just paying it forward, plus I wanna help make this a fun experience for you

Sorry if I confused you, but I meant the air cell should stay stationary at the big end of the egg, no matter how you turn or move the egg. The membrane is attached to the inside of the egg shell, and the air cell which is connected to/part of the membrane shouldn't move, ever, but the yolk will...

    First Egg Candling

The developing keet/embryo will move around within the fluid of the egg as you move the egg around candling it (this is normal), but the air sac and veining should be stationary no mater if you slowly spin the egg, tilt it, or even turn it upside down. At this stage tho all you are going to be...

    First Egg Candling

Sounds like you are on track, and as long as the watery motion wasn't in the air cells, and the air cells are staying in place at the top of the egg, the eggs should be fine... (but sometimes air cells can be dislodged during shipping, which isn't good). Candling, and turning while candling has...
