    The taped funnel can work. Or hang something over it but too close for them to set on top. A simple way is to put some dirt or sand in a milk jug so the wind doesn't blow it away and hang that over the feeder or waterer.

    I've been known to hang something over feeders and waterers so they can't perch up there and poop in the food or water underneath. A plastic milk jug with water in ot works, plus of you hang it with a single rope they will fall off if they try to perch in that.
