Unfortunately, he has just passed away. I was taking him out to feed him when his head dropped. He had a seizure, and died in my arms. We are taking him to NC State for a necropsy. Hopefully it’s nothing contagious. Thank you all so much for your help. It really helped me have a sense of hope...

Thank you guys so much. If he doesn’t show signs of improvement within the week, we will consider taking him to a vet. We try not to because it’s not very local and it’s expensive. I really hope he gets better and I thank you for your support and advice.

He is breathing with his mouth open and seems less interested in food. 😩

That is currently what I am treating him for. I’m mostly just keeping him warm and making sure he eats and drinks.

Since I’ve been feeding him it is medium full and squishy. Before, it was pretty empty.

Update: I have him inside with me to keep him warm and so I can monitor him. He is reluctantly drinking and eating wet chick starter and tomatoes. I’m nervous because he is open mouth breathing and closes his eyes sometimes. He also occasionally poops. Same as previous pics.

I’m giving him water and he is reluctantly drinking it on his own. I just need an all around safe food I can give him for now since he is so under nourished. 😟

Can he recover from heart/liver problems?

I had no idea. All of my chickens eat the same food and the other roosters seem perfectly fine. Thanks

Can I feed him tomatoes, rice, and scrambled eggs in the meantime until I can get him different food?

I can’t get him new food today, but maybe sometime later this week. How long do you think he’ll last.
