I am not sure but am curious also...I have buff/light cross but they are still fluff balls so I can't tell yet. I think I heard somewhere that they will be sex-linked but i can't remember for sure. Someone with more experience should clue you in pretty quick!

I have 1 roo for 5 girls and he covers them fine without any torn up or bald backs. I think 6-8 would be a good range. I will say the hens wont let him be too forward though. Some hens are just more willing than others so that makes a difference too. When it comes to favorites.

I have hatchery Brahmas and they are all friendly. I however dont spend time with mine so they aren't like a dog that will come hop on my lap but when I catch them and hold them they never try to peck at me or anything and just sit calmly as the kids pass them around. They are like any other...

I was on a genetics thread the other day and I found where someone had posted the evolution of things like the siamese cat and the bull terrier and had great pictures to go along. It showed how the pressures of what is winning at shows has changed how breeds are viewed if I find it I will post...

I have three kids so we watch spongebob....one episode in particular Gary goes to a snail show and they end up protesting all of that pampering, it is kind of funny if you like spongebob. Yep, he is happy and healthy and a gentleman; he even dances for the girls like a prairie chicken....I...

I think my roo has too many foot feathers....they are acutally growing out of their own skin flap on his outer toe and are similar to coarse wing feathers. He also has vulture hocks. I'm not showing or hatching any of my eggs I just use him for a protector and mediator which he is awesome at...

vikis girls - Depending on how much space you have you have a few options... I did mine ladder style; with the first being about 1.5 feet from the ground and then up until the top rung...some hop up but flydown, others fly about half way then hop, and some hop up and down (my rooster mostly)...

speaking of meat in the freezer....that rooster I posted the other day has become quite agressive and has to go. He is 24 weeks old do you think he is worth cooking up or will the meat be too tuff? I know that since they develope slow they are supposed to be good eating for longer but how much...

Thank you for all of your input. He must just be one of those meant to be birds....first cross bred and then coming as a "packing peanut" and surviving 3 seperate coon attacks. He is a survivor if nothing else. lol JK

I got this gentleman from cackle hatchery in may 2012. He was supposed to be a LF Buff Brahma but he has more of a laced pattern. Do you think crossbred or genetic mutation? Obviously I am not working on show quality so it isn't a huge deal It is just in my curious nature to see what ppl with...

I am new to this so forgive me if this has been posted. In looking through the thread I have noticed many birds with vulture hocks. I have a rooster that is showing these as well. I currenlty have no intention of showing and given that he is my only rooster I intend to let him continue on as...
