    Is the non-silkie feathered hen next to the babies their mother? (If so she must carry the silkie allele to have silkie feathered babies.) I would say that BB's markings will be like hers: rather partridge-ish, but not exactly. Too much dark to be a buff.

    The crele's is very light--the cuckoo's was dark enough that she wasn't DQed, and in fact did pretty well, by very silkie knowledgeable judges at a couple of shows last fall. Dark skin and barring are genetically difficult to acquire--you need crossover.

    Porcelain don't look anything like buff. Any patterned feather looks a bit different on silkie feathers.

    I'm thinking that you aren't sure what colour your chicks are, but that they have several colours showing in their feathers. Is this correct? If so, they could well be recognised varieties.
