Did you remove the eggs? If I recall correctly the broody that hatched chicks last year kept them in the nest for 24 hours before venturing into the pen. If there are still eggs under her then she is waiting for those to hatch too.

I have slipped them under at night but they were incubated indoors and the broody was sitting on duds for 21 days. I have heard some will accept grafted chicks and some won't, maybe for some birds hearing the chicks peep in the egg before the hatch makes a difference. Just have a backup plan...
