I think it's trickier when you don't have another chick to compare to. I've attached a photo of mine at 7 weeks - left is a boy, right is a girl. The second photo is the same chick as in this thread, when his comb was still pink with small wattle, who turned out to be a boy.
It's the worst luck, isn't it?
Will the cockerel be ok on his own for now? I'm going to try and keep him, and he'll have 6 hens to look after when he grows up. They are not so nice to him now but I guess that will change.
