I have a top drying on the counter from this week's pineapple. It's going in the ground this weekend.

I have grown from tops & for me they produced fruit the next season so ~18 months. I've planted more than a dozen directly in the ground and none have fruited. My conclusion is that they do better pot bound.:idunno
