I was thinking of having them hatch eggs as well when I decided to buy the eggs. I just think it would be the coolest thing to watch them raise chicks.
They were my first purchased eggs that I incubated. I am still so in love with them! Even the hubby is constantly checking on them to make sure they have the best of everything. He even offered to build a second coop just for them. I'm thinking that may be a great idea.
UPDATE; The Silkies are almost 13 weeks old and one is a confirmed crowing Roo. I still can't be sure the sexes on the others because combs and feathers are confusing. Behavior is also confusing. I will post some pics and hopefully all of you smarter than me can help determine. First one;
First off, sorry for the long post!
The babies are 6 weeks now and it's been a journey! I had the smallest one get a leg thing going and it was just poking out to the side. Didn't stop it from getting around or eating and drinking. I picked it up several times a day and moved the leg around...

No names yet but it won't be long. Their personalities are already showing. Two of them come running when I walk up to the incubator. I'll take them all out in a little bit when the last one dries out.
Thank you! I was so sure I had murdered them all with my incompetence. :lol:
Yes, it's been set up and warm for days with my fingers crossed. I haven't taken them out because there is always a pipped egg in there. After the last one just hatched the next egg poked a good size hole. I'm terrified I'll shrink wrap one of them. The last 2 haven't pipped yet so when this...
I am over the moon! I bought eggs online and they were not well packaged at all. It took me 40 minutes to get them unpacked without breaking any. I sat them for 24 hours on the counter and the air sacs were still split and sideways etc. I put them in the incubator in egg cartons and gently...
