Thanks! Their heads are fairly brown but the rest is all yellow on both of them, if they're going to go silver is that a color they should already have or something that happens as they mature?
The heat lamp is running about 100ish, and they’re spread out around the brooder. :)

Behold! Letting it get up to temp now. If it’s too hot I’ll lift the light some, I have some things I can clamp or hook it to. Just in time as my first two quail hatched!

edit: I got it, I remembered we have a smaller bin we use for Christmas decorations. I’ll just dump those into a bag and make a HWC lid for it real quick and move the lamp over.

Edited to ask: Since it’s an opaque bin (I just used one we already had) should I run lights in the lid or on the sides? Otherwise, it’s SUPER dark in there...
Cool. I’m shoving mine under my desk, and I think I can run a cable or rope or a shoelace or something through the supports of the desk and hang the lamp from that. Then yeah, I guess I’ll just use more HWC. IKEA desk for the save!
I don’t have any chain - wouldn’t it hang too low at that point? It’s already super close to the bedding. Can just do without the lid or will they all escape?
