Yes it is a true breed, but be careful buying them from McMurray. Their birds are Araucana x Ameraucana.

We had very similar issues. The same chick that would be jumping around merrily would be laying dead two minutes later. The survivors from McMurray are very hardy and better free rangers than any of our Meyer's birds.

Same here. My chicks were much healthier and I got what I ordered plus 1. My McMurray chicks were not as healthy, friendly, and not exactly what I ordered.

My order shipped from Meyer's Hatchery today. Did not get any updates until 1pm. I called the hatchery before then to ask what was going on and my shipment had left before the time that I was calling (around 930am).

They told me that they can send me more if I purchase more, because the order must include 15 birds. The newer ones that we discovered were not in our order they are not giving us credit for, but for the ones that we lost and the mix ups that we caught right away, we were reimbursed for.

I am glad that you mentioned the packs. I feel that they should put them in for prevention of loss Anyway. That is part of shipping. Anyway, after seeing your past a couple of days ago I called to add a heat pack.
