I was doing a bit of research and store where I got my lil bantam uses 2 hatcheries of which one carries Japanese bantams (which were used in developing the Serama breed) so maybe this lil one is a Japanese bantams which is also a tiny chicken of about 20 to 26 oz. Who knows...We will see
The Brahma is standard size..They had the lil one in with other bantam varieties but this one was so tiny my daughter picked it out. Only solid white one in the bunch. So I truly don't know the breed just that it is a bantam and a tiny one at that. I've had other bantams but never one this...
Waiting to see how it does. Most bantams are fine with full sized chickens, but this one is awfully tiny. At the moment s/he stays with best friend who happens to be a dark Brahma oddly enough. I only seperated her because the 2 guineas in brooder were a lil too crazy..lol. Since putting the lil...
It's name is Marshmallow. Yes they come in lots of colors, including white. I'm not sure it's a Serama...Posted in the breed club few days ago. From what I understand they do grow slow and some aren't mature til 12 or 14 months
I'm starting to think it is a Serama since it's so tiny...Does well with the other chicks, snuggles under their wing like they're momma. The guineas are a bit much for it when they get startled cuz they're so quick n jumpy. Eats well and drinks well. I just hate to put the lil one by itself so...
All the other chicks are standard size by the way. But are same age within day or so apart. The chick in front of it is a dark Brahma and to left is brown Leghorn and guinea and Jersey giant to right
I haven't a clue it's solid white chick and size of roasting marshmallow. It's in pic few posts above...Was one of smallest chicks in bantam bin that had guineas in it too. But even the guineas are much bigger than it. It's so cute and isnt yellow it's white
Aww, I'm sorry for your loss. It's just been so long since I've raised any bantam chicks I can't remember if they're slower growing or not. I know they will be consistently smaller but since I only have one this time not sure if on track or not.
My lil bantam seems to not be growing...Do they grow at much slower rate than standard. I don't remember my others growing this slowly. It eats and drinks well, but does peep/cry a lot more than the others. It is extremely tiny but so sweet...nestles it's lil head up and under the rest of the...
It is tiny.. Here it is next to a guinea chick same age
And on my 12 yr olds hand
It is about the size of roasting marshmallows so it's name is marshmallow
New teeny bantam..Came from bin of several breeds so no idea what s/he is but sooo cute bout the size of a cotton ball...Chicken math strikes again! Went in to get 2 guineas ended up with 2 guineas and 6 chicks.
