My cousin who lives in New Haven has had a brown turkey fig for years. I guess if you are willing to do the work for these plants, they can be grown most places.
I can't imagine how cold that is. DD is in Michigan. I had trouble (when she was packing) explaining that she really NEEDED a heavy coat. We finely bought her one and she was pissed for a day or 2. I don't know why, I paid for the dang thing. :lau She kept telling me it was a waste of...
We have a Navel Orange tree, 2 Mayer lemon trees, a brown turkey fig (that is taking it's time to product this year), a Blood Orange tree that took a beating last year and doesn't have flower number one on it this year, but does have a lot of dead wood that has to be trimmed. We also have a...
Fresh lemons are so good. And you can squeeze any you can't use and put 1 tablespoon into each space in an old ice tray, freeze it and place the frozen lemon juice into zip lock bags. 1 lemon cube makes a 16 oz glass of lemonade (sweeten to taste) and can be used for baking and cooking, much...

I have 2 mayer lemon trees and 1 blood orange tree in my chicken yard. All are roughly 9 feet tall, but have some sap suckers left in place, making them bush like at the bottom, so hens have more hiding space. They will also get into the trees, like roosts or jungle Jims. :lau :lau
My citrus trees didn't produce for the first three years. They are a good 9 or 10 feet tall right now and produce fairly well. Depends on the "wild" animals. Same with my brown turkey fig tree.
I have never grown avocado, but I understand you have to have 1 male and 1 female for them to produce. I don't know how to tell the difference. Or where they grow best
I have 2 Mayer lemon trees, 1 blood orange tree and 1 navel orange tree. However, I am in an area where it is fairly easy to grow citrus. You are pretty far North, what type of lemon tree are you growing and yes I am curious as to how it does that far north and what if anything special you...
