I too am so sorry for you and your sweet Karen. We all know you did everything you could for her, including the kitchen sink! *hugs* You are in my thoughts. Hey, now she is across the rainbow bridge having a great time with all of our beloved chickies we have lost. *hugs* Thank you for including...
Oh my gosh, oh no! Good grief, that is crazy. I would seriously call them tomorrow, and have them read her chart notes to you. Make sure that everything is noted, and if it's not make them add it, so its documented for when you go back in. I don't think meds alone are going to fix her leg...
That is very encouraging news! I will keep sending positive vibes your way, just know I am rooting for you two! Try adding some protein to the mash - like tuna or creamy peanut butter, and a sugar syrup of some kind, like honey, molasses or even pancake syrup. They will both give her an extra...
True, you cant take a possibly sick chicken to the meat processor, but they may be willing to come help you out, or have a place nearby to take her to. Hopefully your neighbor can help you figure out what to do, and so forth. I feel so badly for you, if I were there I would help you with...
I agree with you completely, it will not keep her alive, she needs food and water. The Drench is to kick start the immune system and increase appetite, while providing an initial dose of nutrition, then every 8 hours as needed to assist the bodies recovery.
Are there any private meat processors in your area, that like do deer, boar, wild turkey, etc.. Maybe one of them could help you out, if you are ready. Sounds like it would be easier on you, if they did it, then you could bury her if that's allowed where you live.
Yes, same here.... it honestly does not sound good for her at this point. Especially if she won't even swallow, and didn't respond even a little to the drench. Did you try to give it every 8 hours?
Here is info from the company that makes the drench, and they state it goes into the bloodstream within minutes. 👍

From the research I have done, it goes into the crop, and is absorbed into the bloodstream from there. Sometimes, it can be life saving when done this way.
Have you tried to give her any Drench? You can put 3 drops, one at a time, directly on the tip of her tongue, let her swallow each drop first, before giving the next. It goes directly into their bloodstream. If she doesn't improve from it, within a few hours, then if you are up to it and feel...
I'm so sorry to hear that she has continued to delcine in her health. Putting any of our pets to sleep is never an easy decision, only you can decide when it is the right time, if and when it comes to that. No one here will judge you for your decision whatever it may be. I can relate to your...
I'm so sorry to hear this. It sounds like you're doing all you can for her. I don't know what other advice to offer. Anyone out there have any suggestions or tips?
Try it again at night time after dark when she is sleepy. They are a lot more calm and willing to try new things at that time of night. Just like training to perch. :)
Yeah I agree with you, definitely still needs to exercise so she doesn't get stiff and hurt even more. But this would provide you both with some relief for periods of time. Relieve some of the pain for her hopefully, and you can sit & relax knowing you've done all you can for her. :)
I have seen a video on YouTube, of how to make a chicken sling from a clothes basket, an old towel and some clips to attach the towel to the basket. You cut holes in the towel for the legs to hang through, I bet you can make a cut out as well for droppings to fall thru as well. Sounds like it...
