I knew some of the air cells were a bit on the small side, I couldn't get humidity to go below 30ish, but I ran dry, well into day 19!! The mutts were the darkest, most dense shells, (and I also chose very round eggs, except for the one that survived) so I think that's why they didn't do well...

8 duck eggs set... 1 infertile, 7 locked down, 3 hatched. (4 DIS after internal pip)
7 lavender orpington eggs set... 1 infertile, 6 hatched!

Yea, it does seem rather odd. I dont like how difficult it is to add water to the Octagon 20 channels, but I haven't seen any that are really easy. And then there are those d*%$ rails that we love so much (but others have no issue with them!) Can't beat the temp stability, but there are things...
Or put something over it to reduce the amount of open surface area of the water? Alum foil, plastic, sheet of glass?

Haha well, I dont really have a plan yet. I'm actually hatching these for a gal that moved here to WV from Nevada and couldn't bring her birds, so she is restocking. It kinda depends on how many she takes once they hatch, how many I sell, and how many I keep. So we'll see.

I was going to do the NYD thing, but changed my mind. I set 8 duck eggs on 11/17, removed one clear on day 7, and added 18 chicken eggs, so they will all be due Dec 15th. My own stock, all pullets. But out of the 18, I only had 3 clear, so I have 7 ducks and 15 chicks developing well with one...
