Does anyone know were "Chickens for Backyards" hatchery is located? I couldn't' seem to find any info on that. Heres there website, offering seed bantams for half the price as MPC, though I down know how they sex them, or how accurate it is...
I just looked on MPC. The females are expensive! $20 for a single female chick! Wow! I will look into other places to get them, but if I get bantams I may just have to test my luck and cross my fingers with straight run. I do want one bantam rooster, but no more then that.
Got it. So its likely that the feed store will just be selling them as straight run. Okay, darn. I don't want all roosters lol! Then I either rehome them, or freezer camp, which I absolutely don't want. Hmmmm, thanks for the info! I'll have to see how it goes.
I know they get them from hatcheries, but it makes me feel like I'm not putting them thorough so much if I get them there I guess. Plus I can support my local feed store rather then a huge hatchery.
I had a feeling Bantams would be harder. Thanks for the info!
Hey guys! I am planning on getting bantams this Spring to start another flock. I would order from a hatchery were the gender is usually more accurate, but I don't want to stress out my chicks so much in shipping. I would prefer to use the feed store for that reason. I only want one rooster...
