Just 2 eggs today. I’m fighting with 2 broodies now, at least one of them actually laid an egg today. Nests are closed for the night so we’ll see how they do at bedtime.

4 out of probably 6 laying. You’ll never guess what ANOTHER one of my hens decided to do. If you said go broody, you’d be correct! The third broody in 10 days.

5 out of 6 today, but now my darn cuckoo marans is going broody! It’s possible the 6th girl will still lay today but I closed off the nest boxes early to keep the cuckoo out.

Just 2 today. My two Easter eggers are doing really well, everyone else is slacking a little.

3 today. I had to leave the chickens in the pen this morning instead of letting them free range so I could run to town so they weren’t very happy.

I’d call that 5 out of 7 then. Makes your ratio look better.

6 out of 6! Broody is still somewhat broody, but we’re getting there.

3 eggs today. Broody roosted herself tonight, which I’m taking as a good sign.

It’s nothing fancy, just an old wood shed with comfy private nest boxes. Most of the ones that keep going broody are either wyandotte or wyandotte mixes, and a buff Orpington.

I’ve got 4 that have been broody off and on all winter. Either my setup is really good for encouraging it, or my hens just all have baby fever.

It’s the same one that I broke on New Years. She doesn’t seem to realize that it’s still below freezing here.

3 today, and all four broodies are broken!

4 out of 5 laying. Three out of the four broodies are fully broken! I think the last one just needs another day out of the nest. I was hoping she would be the easiest since she had only been broody a day when I started trying to break her, unlike the other three, but clearly I was wrong.

4 today. We’re making progress on the broodies, two are broken and two are getting closer.

3 today. One broody has been successfully broken, and two more are almost there. The last one is still being stubborn but I’ll break her eventually.
