    I'd lean toward injury at this point. The red and irritation to the joints is likely due to him resting/laying down a lot since he's reluctant to move. I'd lightly swab those scabs on the joints with Chlorhexidine. Let that dry. For the leg he's favoring, I'd wrap it to give support...

    A video of him walking may be helpful. For video, upload to youtube and provide a link. Does he lay down a lot? I do see a few scabs on the joint in the photo. He may have some infection in the joint. If he doesn't improve, then you can try an oral antibiotic to see if that helps.
