    Ohhhh that should be fine....it gets dark earlier, as long as you have a lighted area to see to clean the carcass...don't cut your finger off! I'm not a night owl.

    They are much easier to catch after full dark. Some folks hang a carcass(dead bird) before actually cleaning it(plucking, gutting)... ...I'm not comfortable with that. I like around 15-20 minutes between kill and chill.

    It will be easiest well after dark. Keep the flashlight dim and pointed away from an avenue of escape. Give him water in cage, I withhold feed to purge intestines but slaughter by 9am....last meal of scratch 15 minutes before kill to fill crop making it easier to remove. Good Luck...you can do it!
