Yup...why I just let them make their own dust bathing areas in the 'dirt'...which rather sandy here.

Because it doesn't kill bugs and is a serious respiratory irritant. DE is a 'hot topic'. Some believe it is miraculous. Some believe it is pretty much worthless.

Post a pic of what you have/had? He makes some decent points... ....but plain sandy/dirt is fine, DE should not be used, IMO. Ash should be from hardwood burning.

Sweet props!! I used to do this, but they never used the bin...so I stopped after a few years. Under the coop part of the run stays dry enough(to not freeze) to dust bathe all winter.
