Ditto Dat! Growing grass in a chicken run is futile, IMO. I prefer good bedding that 'eats' the poops and just needs some added once in a while. Semi-deep litter(cold composting), never clean anything out, just add smaller dry materials on occasion, add larger wood chippings as needed.
