2nd chick made "HER" appearance at about 1am, could not sleep knowing my cats were waiting for her.
They are peeping away in the brooder. The remaining 4 were questionable so I am going to leave them till Sunday and see what happens.
Cross your fingers for me that I get one or 2 more.
they almost always need help to get out. just be sure to give it as much time as possible to absorb the egg sack. If you have to assist, go really slowly. do a bit, then stop - repeat
it's the coldest day of the year so far here in Central Texas. Taking the kiddo to the doc this morning, maybe there will be something in the bator when we get back.
I pick up my 5 Buff Orpington's this afternoon from the feed store just hope they have some Marans to keep company with.
I made a huge mistake!!!
I went to my local feed store (needed chick food) and they have CHICKS! So freaking cute.
I ended up buying 5 buff orpington pullets from the order they are getting on Thursday.
At least my marans chicks will have friends
Tomorrow is lockdown! Fingers crossed for me!
the last hatch I only got 3 chicks out of 7 (shipped Marans eggs) and of those I think 2 are boys
one is a lovely Blue Copper Marans Pullet, she is pretty cute
post pictures and updates as we hatch - so egg-cited!
I was taking to Brenda at Littlepeddlers Marans, she said I should leave the eggs in until day 24 just to be sure. She has been a great help. I only removed the 1 egg that was totally clear. 6 more in the bator, fingers crossed!
