Anyone Here Good at Math? - Math and Medications

@Free Spirit , what I'm looking for is how to make a Corid suspension that one could give very easily to any size bird and use the smallest amount of powder possible. So let me ask you this... if one takes 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 teaspoon powder and mixes it with 10 ml of water, how many mg of...

The Corid directions are for cattle, so the most cattle are supposed to get is 10mg/kg, but the bird dose is 20mg/kg. Try forgetting about the different % levels and the Corid data sheet and calculate an oral drench at 20mg/kg based on the amount of mg's in a 1/4 tsp, 1/3 tsp or 1/2 tsp. -Kathy

Okay, so back to the Duramycin 10 powder I have weighed it and people have counted out the number of tablespoons per bag (18). I have also calculated that one gram of the powder contains 55mg. Ten grams per tablespoon = 550mg, so one teaspoon = 183mg. The 800mg dose is ~1.45 tablespoons...

Sigh.... People talk about how much ducks drink, but they don't actually drink that much. These same people claim that medicated feed shouldn't be fed to ducks... And think about it, how much does a sick duck or chicken drink? I know that when mine are sick that I have to tube fluids to them...

Just to be clear, the 3/4 teaspoon dose is the 0.012% amount, not the 0.024% amount. -Kathy

I do have some of the Duramycin powder and have weighed it. The feed store I shop at had open packs of Duramycin and Corid and let me have a little of both so I could do my experiments. -Kathy
