Because it is a splash rooster and blue/black/splash tend to be dominant colors, you will most likely end up with blue or splash chicks with colored leakage. Splash cannot parent black offspring.
All my silkie x EEs were fathered by a blue silkie. All the EE moms were brown reddish colored. All...
My reserve champion silkie x easter eggers. Your will most likely look like mine. I have 3 black and 1 blue. They lay 6 eggs a week on average each. Some of them have gold and silver leakage on the hackles.
They are the same age as my silkie crosses. If their father was the silkie then the hen babies will have black skin, and if their mom had light skin then the rooster babies will have light skin! Or vise versa. Daughters take after dad and sins after mom. Dot get rid of any Roos yet because you...
I will for sure keep them long enough before I get rid of the rooster. The suspected cockerel has a huge comb already, while the hen hardly has one at all.
My silkie x EE babies are now 5 weeks old! We were able to accurately sex them at a week old, because the rooster has yellow tipped toes, more heavily feathers feet, and has grown in his feathers at a faster rate. Normally the hens feather in faster!!
Carolina Hen, your baby is the exact same color that my silkie x EE's!! It will turn our mostly black. More color might come in when it gets all the adult feathers!
Based on the amount of feathers on their legs, the other not silkie parent couldn't have had feathers on their feet. What color eggs do they lay and how often? The brown hen has a much larger crest than the white, so both parents of the brown probably had crests.
I have 3 silkie x EEs in the incubator due on the 20th! I'm so exited and watched the chick in the light brown egg wiggle around a few days ago. The green and the blue eggs are now to full to see anything in them now!
