i thought sussex were more of a fast maturing breed. im mostly looking for a good or better egg layer or a pretty looking bird that lays a decent amount of eggs. just some more eggs than i get from my cochins 🤣
i am only allowed 6 chickens in the city, roosters are not allowed but mine wears a no crow collar so he can stay. unfortunately i will have to rehome a few to be able to get new ones. so far leghorns are seaming like a good idea. im planning on getting 2 or 3 different breeds.
i got mine when i knew nothing about chickens, so picking from the almost empty assorted bantam bin was a good idea🤣. i love my chickens but i just need a couple that lay some eggs
here is my current flock, the birchen cochin, black tailed red cochin and dark brahma are raising chicks. the splash cochin hasnt began laying yet and my oegb is my only layer right now
im just looking for ideas, pretty, good layer or in between. the only thing im not looking for is broody because 3 have stopped laying and are raising chicks
i have considered phoenix but my entire flock is made up of broodies so i am looking for some layers, i will have to research calico princesses. do you have any photos?
i have a flock of bantams and i am looking for some new breeds (preferably large fowl) that are better layers. right now im just looking for some different breeds before the chicks are back in stock at the feed stores. what do you recomend, and what experiences do you have with these breeds...
