I would use a paintball, but first I would contact the owners so then if their dog shows up home with a paintball mark on it they have been warned. I'm not advocating starting a war with your neighbors and I don't know if it's legal to use a paintball but that is what I would do and take pictures.
A coyote that paid a visit last night out by the outer coops.
Last night something came in contact with the electric wires. I was sound asleep and it woke me. My house isn't that close to the outer coops but I heard something test the electric wires last night.
I don't believe a paintball shot at a dog will kill it, but it would feel it and surely mark it. If there have been previous issues with a dog or whatever, I would shoot it with a paintball if I had one. I wonder if that would be construed as cruelty to animals?
Many years ago a BYC member had issues with a dog. The dog's owner claimed it wasn't his dog coming on her property so the next time it showed up she shot it with a paintball. Not sure what happened. I'm not advocating shooting dogs with a paintball.
Electric wires are the best defense in my opinion. Since I put them up around my coops and pens there have been attempts but quickly aborted. I believe that once a predator connects with the electric wires they don't test them again. Most critters examine things first with their noses and if...
