    So does anyone have any recommendations on any SAFE bulbs? I have ducklings coming within the next three days and as of right now I don't have a bulb to use in the brooder lamp!

    Happy to hear that! However I'm going to be playing it safe rather than sorry...I'm just so new to this and I'm terrified of doing something wrong.

    Does anyone know if the General Electric brand 250 watt heat lamps are safe? It says nothing on the package about having a Teflon coating or "shatter proof" or anything. On the back it says "Commercial applications include warming food, heating floor tile and farm uses".

    Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just bought one of these Westinghouse "brooder" bulbs from Tractor Supply. Thankfully it's not in use yet as my ducklings don't come until Tuesday or Wednesday. Obviously I won't be using this bulb now! What sort of bulb an I safely replace it with...
