Nope, chocolate brown. first pic, it's the dark brown, and she is a new layer so that's about as dark as she'll get. Second pics, those hens were 4 years old, so color had lightened a bit each year.

I think that may be a black copper Marans. Straight comb, black copper coloring, feathered legs, looks to have white/pink skin from what I can see of the toes. I guess you'll know for sure when she lays.
